If you elect to perform any modifications, adjustments, or other technical procedures to your equipment you should:
a.) read all the instructions thoroughly before beginning any work;
b.) be certain you understand all the instructions before you start;
c.) review all diagrams and photos to be sure you fully understand and identify the correct component(s) and circuit board(s) involved;
d.) make sure the modification described is intended to do what you want it to;
e.) make sure the modification doesn't have any adverse affects to your equipment;
f.) be sure you have thought through all procedures and have the proper tools on hand (heat sinks, right soldering iron, non-magnetic tools were applicable, etc)
g.) NEVER TAKE SHORT CUTS!

If you have the slightest doubt about any aspect of the instructions, your ability to properly carry out the procedure, or whether the instructions are full, complete, or accurate, contact the manufacturer of the equipment or a competent service resource.  Either confirm the information with them or have them do the modification for you.  Neither the U.S. Navy nor Navy-Marine Corps MARS accepts any responsibility for your application of the mods listed at these sites.

If a manufacturer wants proof of your membership in MARS before they will provide you with the information you seek, ask if FAXing a copy of your MARS license is sufficient.  If not, ask what information they need then contact your state director for a letter, on MARS letter head.
