Not
every MARS service has
a member in every location, or even close to a location where a message
may be destined. To facilitate faster message service the TEXN (Traffic
EXchange Network) was established several years ago. This
permitted
authorized members of each service to participate in the traffic nets
of one or both of the other services, thereby providing additional
avenues for traffic dissemination.
The TEXN program posed certain barriers to
good practices. As
of 1998 the TEXN policies and program were considered out dated; they
no longer exist as originally conceived. In effect, these
barriers
have been removed. Within the restrictions established by the
chiefs
of the three MARS services, members may participate in each of the
other services' traffic nets.
Members
should keep in mind that while we encourage interoperability, and you
will receive participation credit, you MUST meet your minimum required
HF participation on Navy-Marine Corps MARS HF nets.
