check out the FAQ under databases on the ALL Region Ten e-mail group web sight;
review NTP-8 (series) Annex M;
review Pacific Area Operations Guide (AOG); Annex M and,
carefully review the "Welcome" e-mail message you receive when first subscribed to the lists as well as the automated message from the list that provides your password. No one can recover your password for you. If you loose it you will have to see instructions at the Yahoo login. E-mail Groups Log in
Tango Members E-mail Group
An e-mail group has been established specifically for Tango members and select staff. This e-mail group will be of little interest to most regular members. More info on this can be found in the Tango Members-- Just for you link on the main Region Ten Web site.
The ALL & ECOM lists:
The ALL and ECOM e-mail groups are accessed at the same site, yahoo groups.com. It will show up as MyGroups. Occasionally you will be required to enter your login information, even if you have your computer set to remember you login.
If you are a member of any e-mail groups with other organizations and have used the same e-mail address with them, all your groups will show up together. If you have used other e-mail addresses with other groups you can tie them all together so they will all list at the same time. The same goes if you are in the MARS e-mail groups with more than one address. Instructions for this can be found on the Yahoo Groups web site.
The ALL e-mail list exists to help with the dissemination of information and data of interest to all the members of Region 10. Any member of the list can access e-mails archived on the list, post e-mails (list is moderated), and enter events on the calendar (see Other Features, below). E-mails submitted to the ALL group will require approval before they are sent out, but that will be handled automatically. There is nothing for you to do but submit your e-mail.
You must be a member of Region Ten and have your e-mail address registered with the Region e-mail roster in order to be a member of the group, or to access the ALL List via the web. You can have additional e-mail addresses on the ALL or ECOM groups. Those addresses do not have to be listed in the Region Roster, but must be on record with AS0 Five. For example, some members want to get the e-mails from these groups both at home and at their office, but do not want other e-mails coming to their work. Send AS0 Five an e-mail information on each e-mail address you want added to the group. It is best if you send it from the actual e-mail location so as to avoid typos. The e-mail must contain your MARS call sign, name, city, and ST as a way to confirm identity.
If you wish to change your e-mail address in the Region Ten roster, or add another, send me an e-mail NNN0AS0 Five with the new or additional address.
All members are strongly encouraged to obtain a Navy MARS e-mail address and use that for MARS business. That way you can change the forwarding instructions on that address and rosters don't need to be changed. MARS e-mail addresses are now capable of forwarding to more than one e-mail address simultaneously. For more information, or to sign up, click Get Your Free NMCMARS E-mail Address
Joining the Lists
Members can only be added to the lists by AS0 or AS0 Five, send your info to AS0 Five. Each member will receive an e-mail from each of the lists announcing they have been added to the list. That e-mail also contains your password. You can change your password and other profile information on-line.
New members to the e-mail groups will receive a more detailed e-mail automatically from the group. It covers the use of the lists and e-mails in general for MARS related business. Be sure to read them carefully. You only need one password to access the MyGroups section which will list all the e-mail groups you belong to. Both lists should show in your My Groups. If not, send me an e-mail.
When AS0 Five inputs your change the groups will see you as a brand new member. This will automatically generate a new set of "welcome to the group" e-mails. It will also give you a new password. Just as though you had never been signed up. The exception to the new password will be if that new e-mail address is already registered with another e-mail group. All your groups will use the same password.
Other Features
Each list has a personal profile you can edit. Only members of the list have access to read it. Your profile will be the same for all your groups. I can change your status on the lists, but only you can edit your profile.
You have some other options which you can change yourself at the web sight, or notify me and I will set it up for you. You can:
elect to receive e-mails as they are sent out,
receive a daily digest of that day's e-mails,
be set to "Web only; no e-mail" (this is the default for the ECOM list, but is not recommended for the ALL list), or,
you can unsubscribe.
For the ALL list I suggest the first or second option. If you select Web Only you may not get timely notification of some important items, but the choice is yours. If you select Web Only check the sight often.
Everyone on the ECOM group is set to "Web only, No E-mail" as the only things posted there are actual ECOM and ECOM drill messages, EEI messages, SITREPS, and the like. It is intended a a Region repository for ECOM traffic so they can be readily found by members and staff. You can change this to one of the other delivery options listed above if you like.
There is no requirement to be on either of these e-mail groups, but before you unsubscribe consider this: they are good sources of information, and in some cases, the only source for some things. Members are strongly encouraged to remain on them. If you unsubscribe yourself and did not mean to, send me an e-mail about it.
Chat Rooms
There are chat rooms on each of the e-mail groups in Region Ten. They are available for anyone to use who is a member of the group. It can be a good way to have an off-the-air round robin discussion.
Calendar of Events
The calendar of events lists activities coming up, special events, special nets, etc. Some examples include MARS booth at SeaPac or Rickreal, Region admin net, sometimes ECOM exercises, etc. Many of the listed events are set to send one or more e-mails ahead of time to remind members of the coming event. Although all groups have calendar capabilities typically only the ALL group of Region Ten has items posted. You can also look at the calendar any time by going to the ALL group and clicking on "Calendar". If you have trouble accessing the ALL group and you are not a Tango member, drop an e-mail to AS0 FIVE
To go to the lists click on "E-mail Groups log in".
