TRACER MESSAGES

NTP-8(C) par 620 establishes the procedures for tracer
messages. The following shows the text of these message for
members entering messages into the MDS and for MBO sysops.

When members and traffic reps put msgs into the MDS it would
be helpful if they would record the message number assigned
to the msg by the MBO and refer to this number when they
generate the tracer msg. This makes the sysops job much
easier. In the following examples it is assumed the msg number
was not noted.

The member initiating the tracer action sends a tracer msg to
the station that he originally sent the msg and so on until
the tracer reaches the sysop of the MBO where the msg was first
entered into the MDS. Tracer message examples follow.

In the above example NNN0WSH (GAO)put the message into the MRS
MBO at the time stated. The MRS sysop (ZDG) must find the
message using the MRS MSG folder which has all the
messages recently put into the MBO. He finds the message by
finding the message put into the MBO at the time
040822/1422Z. He notes the msg number and then brings up the
MRS log file and finds that the msg was sent to NN0DXD at
040822/1532 and the MRS MBO assigned 1234 as the message
number and the bid of 1234_NN0ZDG. ZDG then generates a
message to the sysop of DXD NNN0GKP with the following message:

Notice that in the above msg the bid is the same. MBOS that
relay msgs do not change the bid.

MRQ is the gateway MBO for the Pacific Area and uses the
multi.com processing program which generates separate msgs
for each of the states of the multiple addees. The MRQ sysop
(TGV) finds the msg in the MRQ log file using the 1234_ZDG bid and
finds the message to NOGAO that multi.com generated. The
bid of this msg is 4567_NN0TGV. TGV also finds that this msg
was forwarded to NN0DXA at 040822/1645Z and generates a msg
to the sysop of DXA (FUL):

and finds that the message was relayed to the sysop of
